Mljet

The legend says Greek hero Odysseus spent years on this island. During his travels, he was captured by the nymph Calypso and spent years with her in the cave right here, on Mljet. Enjoy one of the greenest islands of Adriatic and beware of the nymphs… 

WHAT TO DO AND SEE?

This part of the island is a protected National Park zone.

Within the National Park Zone there are two connected salt water lakes (The Big Lake and The Small Lake) and within the Big Lake there is a small island called St. Mary’s Island, with a 12th century Benedictine Monastery on it. You can walk around the lakes and visit the island by a local boat.

Mljet is a quiet and protected area where you can enjoy the serenity, the nature and relax your senses. It is a home to many endemic plant species and rich historical heritage. However, there are a lot of options for different activities here as well.

You are allowed to swim in the lakes so bring your swim suits and if you wish to do more exercise you can rent a kayak or a canoe and row along the lakes. Information can be found at National Park information desk.

Those who want to see more of the island can rent scooters or mini cars. Please note in order to rent cars you must have a valid driving license, know how to drive stick and on the right side of the road!

If you are not interested in going to the park, you can swim at the beach on the side of the hotel Odisej.
