Novi Sad is a city on the left bank of the Danube in Serbia, the capital of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The city lies on the banks of the Danube river and is a home to many river cruises passing through Europe. The visit to the city’s historic center is a must It represents the administrative, economic, cultural, traffic and scientific center of the of Vojvodina. One interesting thing about the city is that it was created as an auxiliary settlement in nearby Petrovaradin, where soldiers, border guards and merchants lived. 

 

Petrovaradin fortress is something you should not miss when you are in Novi Sad. It is a fortress that is best approached by walking through the city and crossing the bridge over the Danube. This achieves the charm of this place. By the way, the fortress is known for holding the famous Exit festival, but it is much more than the place where the festival is held yearly.

 

Built by Austro-Hungarian over the centuries this great fortress became the symbol of the city surrounded by many folk tales and legends.

 

This small town is an ideal place to go on a weekend trip because it is ideal for a two-day exploration and sightseeing. Do not think that this is a quiet and common tourist destination because Novi Sad offers fun, great food and an unforgettable night out until the wee hours of the morning.
